Our laboratory has been involved in several outreach activities that target high school and undergraduate education. Below is a list of products resulting from these activities.
Wolbachia Project
These labs were derived from a project we conducted in collaboration with Rob DeSalle (AMNH) and Jack Werren (University of Rochester). The goal was to teach students about insect diversity and coevolution using Wolbachia as a model. In these labs students (1) gain experience collecting and identifying insects, (2) learn basic DNA extraction, PCR amplification and gel electrophoresis techniques, and (3) better understand insects and how they evolve.
